About Lauran
Lauran Kerr-Heraly, Ph.D. is the Quality and Innovation Lead at Wiltshire College and University Centre. She also serves as Adjunct Professor of History and Innovation Fellow at Houston City College. She is the founder and CEO of Altering Course, an executive function coaching and educational consulting firm.
With over twenty years in education, she’s taught students of all abilities and backgrounds in the U.S. and England, at the secondary and college level — always centering creative teaching and learning. As an Innovation Fellow she develops new problem‑solving approaches and inventive strategies that motivate and empower both youth and adult learners.
Lauran earned her B.A. in Social Sciences with a minor in Secondary Education and M.A. in History at Sam Houston State University. She completed her Ph.D. in History and Women’s Studies at the University of Houston. Her historical research focuses on Black women medical doctors. She is the winner of the Texas State Historical Association’s Randolph B. “Mike” Campbell Award, Houston Community College’s Teaching Excellence Award, and the NISOD Teaching Excellence Award.
She shares a nerdy and adventurous life full of books, board games, and travels with her spouse and daughter.
